Christmas is coming!

This week, Beech worked hard on a set of explanation texts, all about Christmas. The reason behind the activity was to exchange the work with a school in Hamburg, Germany, who sent one of their teachers, Ulrike Lund, to Davies Lane last year. Ulrike and her class have been working hard on some Christmas-related activities too, and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a parcel from Germany this week.

Y’nai wrote: “Did you know that sometimes Christmas can be a money-making scam? However, it is the most popular Christian celebration. Amazingly, people get to spend time with their family.”

Leila said: “Interestingly, Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December. Amazingly, many children go to bed early on Christmas Eve in the hope that Christmas will come sooner!”

Khalid told us: “Did you know that in England, Christmas is the most popular celebration, and people spend lots of money on presents and toys. Also, people eat Christmas food like turkey.”

Finally, Michal told us what was important about Christmas for him: “We open gifts from Santa Clause on the day. We meet our families if they are far away. Everybody puts up a Christmas tree and we decorate it.”
